I've never been more unhappy with their release and felt as though they don't care about customer loyalty than I do now. In large part that I have been a Mac user since Apple 2GS, had an original MacBook Pro, original iPod, iPhone 3, etc. This is costing me time and money, I wish I had the authority to demand restitution for this. I feel as though everything has more steps and is more complicated rather than a more simplified interface, which should be an objective of OS updates. Been so frustrating and personally I am overall displeased with Catalina. The Sidecar with iPad works, but I refuse to use an iPad as a second monitor at my desk. $5k laptop) with 3 external monitors and ever since Catalina haven't been able to use any of them for dev. Well the new monitor worked for a few days and then the same thing is happening so he was right about that. I asked if I bought a new monitor would it help? He said no, but I bought a new one anyways to see if that fixed the issue. He told me he could just report my machine issue and there wasn't much else to do. I then asked how can Apple release a software like this and not fix it right away given how many people use second monitors? Seems crazy to let this bug go unfixed. Again, he said his monitors are doing the same thing for him on his computer. He said that's because the phone team doesn't see as many issues as the store teams do and we can recognize an issue very quickly and we usually know the problem. Why did I have to waste so much of my time and bring in my computer and monitor for the store team to admit the issue and recognize it. I asked the tech why couldn't Apple on the phone save me a bunch of time and just admit this is an issue in the software. It's a software bug in Catalina and has to do with the video processor recognizing the other monitor. He said there was nothing I could do until Apple releases a new update to fix the problem and the he's seen many other computers with the exact same issue and he cannot fix it. He told me his computer monitor at home does the same thing. He told me Apple pushed Catalina out and didn't even give us time to learn the platform let alone work out all of the bugs. In the first 30 seconds of showing the tech the issue, he said flat out, this is our fault. So finally, I made an appointment and took my computer and my monitor into the Apple store. My monitor never had any issues until upgrading to Catalina and now it does exactly the same thing you described. Apple support on the phone was clueless even when getting their second level team involved. I was on the phone with Apple support on this exact issue for two hours on three different calls. Was there a recent OS update which has messed up anyone else's setup? Any other recommendations? I also have a secondary monitor which I've connected via an HDMI cable and also tried connecting my iPad Pro directly to the monitor via USB-C and nothing. I've disconnected the switch and the Windoze laptop connects directly to the monitor with no problem. I am working from home and had my two laptops connected to the monitor using a KVM switch. Since this happened I have tried all the suggestions I've found online like unplugging cables, restarting MBP and monitor, resetting NVRAM and SMC, changing cables, etc. Setup: 13" MBP w/ Touchbar, connected to an LG 34UM69G-B monitor using a Henge Stone dock and HDMI cable. The LG On-Screen Control app was also not recognizing it. I'm assuming there was an OS update and my external monitor was no longer recognized in the Displays tab of System Preferences.
